Road base rubble is screened crushed limestone with product size
ranging from sand up to 75mm lumps. Particle sizes can be screened to suit individual applications.
Lake Preston Lime is currently crushing road base to minus 300mm for a special order to support trucks with a 300 tonne gross weight. It is being used on a local mine site.
This excellent quality crushed limestone is suitable for use in road construction, as well as for shed floors, stables, paths, driveways and dairy laneways. Geotech, a NATA accredited laboratory, has tested the product to confirm its suitability for use in road construction.
The following is a brief summary from Geotech’s Test Certificate, using the Main Roads Department guidelines:
- Particle size 100% through 37.5mm sieve, all other sizes in range
- Liner shrinkage 0.0%
- Maximum dry compressive strength 2100 kpa
- California bearing ratio 87%
- Calcium Carbonate content 68.91%
